C-Odyssey successfully complete concrete mattress installation project in Shetland

Leask Marine’s MV C-Odyssey was contracted by Global Marine for the provision of marine services to Scottish and Southern Electricity’s three new replacement cable’s laying project between the islands of Yell and Unst.

Leask Marine was contracted for installation of concrete mattresses to protect the replacement cables where the cables cross existing subsea assets. Within the tidal flow each mattress was required to be placed with pin-point accuracy to ensure that the obligatory offset off each side of the cable and the maximum acceptable offset between each mattress. The mattresses were loaded onto the vessel and installed subsea with a specialised lifting frame.
