Magallanes launches full-scale floating tidal platform

Magallanes Renovables has launched its multi-megawatt floating tidal platform in Vigo, Galicia, north-west of Spain. The platform, named Agir, was launched on April 21, 2017, the Spanish media have reported. The full-scale device weighs 350 tonnes, and is 42 meters long. The blades of the turbines are 19 meters in diameter, while the system’s power is rated up to 2MW.
The platform will soon undergo trials off Vigo, Leask Marine tow to EMEC where they will install it for one year for further trials. Magallanes Renovables already tested its 1:10 scale platform model at EMEC back in 2014 where Leask Marine successfully performed the deployment & recovery program.
